Introducing Climate Beneficial™ Fiber
We’re proud to introduce Climate Beneficial™ Fiber: a wool knit program made from a carbon-positive fiber ecosystem with beautiful, soft sweaters and hats to be worn by all.
Here is why these pieces are so special: Scientists partnered with agriculturalists, manufacturers and other key community leaders to design a fiber ecosystem that creates a carbon-positive wool—that is, it sequesters more carbon from the atmosphere than the production of the knits creates.
How it works: Grazing sheep used for wool are moved across farm landscapes strategically to give the land time to regenerate. With every growth cycle, grass draws down more carbon from the atmosphere, creating more nutrient and moisture-rich soil. Healthy soil can hold more water, which creates resilience to droughts. This system not only reduces the environmental footprint but in fact becomes carbon-positive since the levels of carbon in the environment are also reduced. As climate change is reversed, the planet begins to heal itself.
